Ingredients
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees.
Slice the tomatoes and place them onto a paper towel lined baking sheet. Sprinkle them with salt and Italian seasoning and let them sweat for about 25 minutes.
Next, unroll the refrigerated pie crust and place it evenly into the pie dish. If you are using a deep pie dish, and want to add fluted edges, you can use the additional pie crust and cut out what you need to make the fluted edges (this can be done with a pizza cutter, then press the additional dough on to the existing pie crust). Poke the bottom with a fork, and bake according to the package instructions, or until light golden brown.
In a small bowl mix together 1 egg, mayonnaise, and ranch seasoning.
When the pie crust is done, start layering, tomatoes, basil, onion, bacon and ranch mixture. Add a layer of both types of cheese then repeat. Top with tomato, cheese, bacon, basil, onion and some crispy fried onions.
Bake uncovered in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes until cheese is melted and edges are golden brown. Remove and let it cool for about 15 minutes, then slice and serve this delicious southern tomato pie.
