Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 lbs. Raw Shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp. Chili Powder
  • 2 Tbsp. Paprika
  • 2 Tbsp. Caribbean Seafood Seasoning
  • 1 Tsp. Garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup of water
  • Peanut Oil (you can also use Canola or Vegetable oil)

Tartar Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups Mayo
  • 1 cup Sweet Relish (drained)
  • Dash of Cajun Seasoning
  • 1 Tsp. Mustard
  • 1/2 cup Sweet Onions (finely diced)
  • 1/2 Tsp. Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 Tsp. Apple Cider Vinegar

Instructions

  1. Place your prepared raw shrimp in a bowl.
  2. In a large mixing cup, mix together flour, cornstarch, chili powder, and paprika.
  3. Pour the flour mixture over the shrimp and stir until the shrimp is completely coated. Then sprinkle the Caribbean seafood seasoning onto all of the shrimp.
  4. In a blender, mix water and minced garlic together. Slowly pour it over the coated shrimp stirring it until each shrimp is coated with a creamy pancake-like batter. Place the bowl of shrimp into the refrigerator for about 45 minutes to marinate. This will help set the coating onto the shrimp before you deep fry them.
  5. In a deep-frying pan, fill it about 1/2 with oil, then heat it to 350 degrees. Place small batches of the shrimp into the hot oil, cooking them for 2 to 3 minutes per side until they are crispy and golden brown. Then, drain and cool them on a baking sheet lined with paper towels.
  6. Serve on a bed of thinly sliced red onions and with your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!
