Aunt Lori’s homemade goulash recipe that brings back memories. It’s an easy one pot old fashioned goulash with macaroni and ground beef.

Ingredients

2 lbs. Ground Beef (80/20)

2 Tbsp. Olive Oil

1 Large Sweet Onion (diced)

1 Green Bell Pepper (diced)

1 14.5oz. Can Diced Tomatoes (with basil, garlic, oregano)

1 14.5oz. Can Stewed Tomatoes

1 24oz. Jar Pasta Sauce

1 Tbsp. Italian Seasoning

1 Tbsp. Paprika

1 Tbsp. Minced Garlic

1 Tbsp. Chopped Basil

1 Tsp. Chili Powder

1 Tsp. Soy Sauce

1 Tsp. Worcestershire Sauce

3 Cups Beef Broth

2 Bay Leaves

1 Tsp. Sugar

1 16oz. Box Large Elbow Macaroni

Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large Dutch oven on medium heat, add olive oil and cook the ground beef until it is browned.  Then season with salt and pepper.  Add onions and bell peppers, and cook until they are soft.
  2. Then pour in the diced tomatoes, stewed tomatoes and pasta sauce.  Season with Italian seasoning, paprika, minced garlic, basil, chili powder, and sugar.
  3. Add in soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth and bay leaves.  Cover and let simmer for about 25 minutes.
  4. Add in the large elbow macaroni. Stir well, cover and let simmer for about 25 minutes (stirring occasionally) until elbow macaroni is tender.
  5. Salt and pepper to taste and serve with slices of buttered white bread!
